Helping the men of Roxby kickstart new healthy habits this Men’s Health Week
In the Roxby Downs Community Hub, a partnership between Healthy Environs and BHP, we made physical activity, connection and health checks the focus of our Men’s Health Week initiatives in 2024.
Engaging communities to build a more inclusive future
Arriving in Australia from New Caledonia with my husband and three children a little over a decade ago, I was expecting a friendly reception. Happily, that’s exactly what we got – Australians are such friendly people!
Creating a Community Hub - a home away from home where everyone is welcome
Almost 600 kilometres north of Adelaide on the traditional lands of the Kokatha people lies the small, and infinitely remote, mining town of Roxby Downs.
A tool for better sustainability management
We’re proud to launch our new Sustainability Performance Framework to make it easier for responsible officers in local government to keep their environmental progress on track.
What 2022 affirmed about the value of diversity
If 2022 taught us nothing else, it affirmed that the diversity of projects we do is key to the thinking our current and future clients can rely on to help them achieve their goals.
In focus: Mozzie monitoring and the City of Salisbury’s award-winning project
Awards are just one way to measure value of a program. But when we learned we’d helped The City of Salisbury win the SA Health and Environmental Health Australia Awards, we were happy to talk all things mosquito surveillance at the recent Environmental Health Australia SA Conference.
Strengthening our Community Development Networks with Community Centres SA
At Healthy Environs we're pleased to have recently joined Community Centres SA (the peak body for over 100 community and neighbourhood centres located across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia). As managers of a remote Community Hub facility and outreach programs, membership with Community Centres SA has given us access to a network of centre operators who (like us) are working to build strong and healthy communities.
Whyalla City Council Public Health Plan
Healthy Environs has been working closely with Whyalla City Council to help develop their Public Health Plan, which is now open for community consultation.
The plan contains a number of key themes that represent the key community priorities.
We value support for tertiary students at Healthy Environs – the learning is a two-way street!
At Healthy Environs we’re delighted to give tertiary students an opportunity to gain work experience in their area of study. Right now, we’re pleased to have Asha Bainbridge on placement with us from the University of Southern Queensland.
Raising awareness on RUOK day...
What a great event to celebrate RUOK Day 2021. Our Roxby Community Hub team held a popular morning tea event to raise awareness on RUOK day, working with our partners: BHP, the Roxby Council, the Roxby Downs Pharmacy and local small businesses.
It’s our birthday and we’re sending YOU thanks ...
Here at Healthy Environs, we’re celebrating our tenth birthday. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the clients, staff, partners and community that have supported and joined us along the way. Thank you!
Let’s Work Together.
